Xiaomi has announced a new Self-Install Smart Lock that installs on top of the existing mechanism and turns standard doors into smart doors in minutes.
The device consists of a motorized unit and a separate keypad. It does not require replacement of the locking system and is suitable for most doors. The concept is simple – modernization without interfering with the structure, which is especially convenient for tenants.
The lock supports three unlocking methods: via a fingerprint scanner with 99.3% accuracy, password entry or control via Mi Home app via Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. It is also possible to use a regular key and remotely monitor the status of the door. Additional features include automatic locking, notifications of unauthorized access and the ability to issue temporary codes for guests.
The main feature of the Xiaomi Self-Install Smart Lock was its support for the Matter standard, which ensures compatibility with Apple Home, Google Home and Alexa.
The price has not been announced yet, but is expected to be in the $150-200 range. The appearance of the lock on Xiaomi’s global website indicates an international release is imminent.
